Ayurvedic Reflexology

                                 Ayurvedic Reflexology

Ayurvedic reflexology is based on the principles of Ayurveda, India's ancient, traditional medical system. The focus for Ayurvedic Reflexology is to help balance the subtle energy systems of the body by supporting the efficient flow of vital energy called “prana”.  Prana flows within the body through energy channels called nadis (similar to the Chinese meridians). According to Ayurvedic teachings, the body (and mind) cannot remain healthy if the flow of prana is sluggish or interrupted.

An Ayurvedic Reflexology session involves the use of a small, bronze bowl kansu from India. The alloy bowl is covered with ghee (clarified butter) and pressed onto the sole of the feet using circular movements. The bowl stays in contact with the skin for the whole session. In combination with ghee, the bowl kansu addresses the fire element in the body and helps to restore and harmonize the energetic flow within the body, leaving you feeling refreshed and energized.

The person receiving any type of reflexology remains clothed and seated in a chair with their feet available to the therapist.
